This is a very thought provicking book and should be read by all Christians as it is probably more fact than fiction.
In The Crucifixion Trilogy, Handlin portrays the life of Jesus in a credible depiction that differs from the usual story, and gives the skeptic a plausible way of accepting Jesus as a real person. He uses "forensic evidence" from the Shroud of Turin as the basis of his theory, with realistic characters to support it.
The story is clearly told in three parts, which develop a sense of anticipation in the reader. Overall, a simply told but very interesting read.
