The rains came and washed away the world of man. The waters covered the Earth. Everyday life became a struggle to stay alive for those who survived the floods. Pirates roamed the oceans preying on the weak. Admiral Campbell's vast armada, known as the Fleet, and the massive platform city of Dry Dock became the last holdouts of civilization. While mankind continued to make war with itself, a new evil was growing. Beneath the waves, life mutated in the wake of the great flood giving birth to the Megalodons and now the final battle for dominion over the Earth has come.

Megalodon Apocalypse eBook Eric S Brown

I started reading this book last night as I was trying to wind down from a busy day. I became so engrossed with the action packed story, giant sharks, and attacks on the city, I lost track of time. Before I knew it I had finished the whole book. I was drawn in from the first paragraph to the end. This adventure was fast paced and action packed from the first page to the end.

If you have not read a story by Eric S. Brown, you owe it to your self to at least give his talent and stories a chance. He is my go to author when I am looking for an adventure for those slow day or days I just want to escape.

Megalodon Apocalypse eBook Eric S Brown Reviews

I really enjoyed this tale from Eric S Brown. It is the third megalodon tale of his I have read, and the action just comes thick and fast.

Rains have washed out the world. Mankind is living on the water, and we are no longer the top predator.

In traditional fashion, nobody is safe.

One hell of a fun-filled ride and wel worth a read.
3.5 stars. I enjoy reading Eric S. Brown's books firstly due to his typical subject-matter, and, secondly, because no character is treated as "special" (for which reasons some authors contrive a happy ending). I switch off when a character is given special treatment, and it becomes clear that they're going to be just fine (with their love interest etc.). Whether or not the protagonist (or protagonists) survives, given a certain circumstance, it shouldn't be contrived.

Circumstances here involve a "Water World" type scenario wherein the oceans have flooded all of the dry land on Earth. The reasons for this are made clear, the author drawing upon another author's writing. This was better than Eric S. Brown's other works "Megalodon" and "Megalodons", in the sense that it was more satisfying judging by what we would expect. In the other two books, I found that the sharks weren't brought to life for the reader, being nothing more than torpedos continuously damaging the ships. Dangerous sharks are scary in a primal sense, but, in "Megalodon" and "Megalodons", they weren't what people who choose these books would anticipate.

An improvement of "Megalodon Apocalypse" is that the sharks - though once again barely fleshed out - are not the focus. They are part of the pervading atmosphere of uncertainty and danger lurking over humanity's future. They are literally instruments of fate, at the bidding of darker beings. The real "Ocean's Hammer". Eric's general writing here is superior to "Megalodon" (which I felt included a number of redundant statements), and on-par with "Megalodons". Unfortunately, there is still a large number of preventable typing errors (e.g. the character Lord Dagon suddenly permanently becoming Lord Dagan a few pages after his introduction). An editor would also have picked up an inconsistency between Jack's age when the apocalypse occurred, and how long ago (at least) it occurred in the story. One other example which "got under my skin" (pun intended) is that one character was stabbed deeply in the guts, but there were no consequences for his well-being. In instances like this, I just change it in my mind, and pretend that it was a flesh-wound in the shoulder.

Generally, the story is "watertight" (pun intended), although the logistics of such things as food supply for Dry Dock (the converted platform city) and subterfuge are not addressed "in depth" (pun intended). It's an "as it is" scenario, so, if you are looking for something detailed and meaty, this is not it. Rather, treat it as a meditation concerning a cosmic "what if". Many works published by Severed Press are useful for acknowledging the indifference and danger which are constantly surrounding us, and this is the fundamental reason why I explore them. My favourite books are entertaining and soothing, and some of Eric S. Brown's books are my favourites in this matter (my enjoyment being more than the star-rating). His action is engaging, and his descriptions bring the intensity to life. All this in a re-readable, shorter-than-necessary length, which does leave me wanting a sequel (with sharks still being a part of that deep blue background of darkness).
Hands down the worst story i have ever read!!!! extremly boring. had so much potential to be a great story great concept. but the author did nothing with it. first and last eric s. brown book i will ever read.
Left me apathetic.
Very quick easy read! It definitely needed some editing for missing words and typos. But by and large ai enjoyed a story that was different from what I usually read. I would read another by this author though!
If you like this type of thriller then yo will enjoy this book. There is plenty of action and excitement. My only dislikes were the proof reading errors that made the story tough to read. I could have wished for a different ending but it is what it is.
In the future, the world is covered in water, and mankind is surviving on the surface. Their main enemies are the pirates, determined to take over what is left of the human race's resources, and the Megalodons.
The action starts right away, and keeps you on the edge of your seat until the last page. If you haven't read anything by Mr. Brown yet, you are missing out! I highly recommend this read!
